Losing Lists and Forgetting My Goals

I saw a writing project over at problogger.net and decided to try it out. It's a project about Blogging Goals...but alas, as we know, I tend to ramble...
Losing Lists and Forgetting My Goals
I am a list maker.
I know you other list makers out there are smiling because you know what I’m talking about. I make lists for everything: packing suitcases, lists of ideas, lists of things to do on a rainy day, lists for books I want to read when I have time, lists for groceries, my goals and more.
I am also a forgetter; not a great combination.
My problem is I always forget my lists and rarely bring them with me when I need them! I remember things at the absolute moment I don’t need to remember things, so I start a list! Don’t bother looking for my list while I’m at the grocery store; I forgot to bring it with me. I go to the library and forget my book list. I never pack from my list for vacations either, though the intention was there. It's the actual process of writing the list that I find comfort in.
Can you see the pattern here?
I’m also a goal maker, and the thing with goals is working towards an accomplishment. Sometimes I reach goals and wonder how I got there!
Now, if only I could find that list of goals…ah, there it is…
1. Write in my blog daily
2. Don’t over think what I want to say
3. Enjoy the process of blogging

I love lists! I love my Franklin Covey Planner! I thought I would get bored with blogging but I am finding there are so many aspects of it that I am entertained...

Is there a greater satisfaction than crossing out the item/task you've just accomplisted from your list? I think not.
I used to misplace my lists too. One thing I've done with my list of goals is to put them in what I call an "Intention Binder".
I have 5 major parts of my life that I have major goals in:
Physical life (fitness)
Spiritual life
Work
Business
Home Life
I've created a major medium/long term goals for each one of my catergories. Such as: gain 10lbs of muscle in the "Physical Life" tab of my binder. Then I break each of those major goals into smaller tasks that I do everyday. It is working. It also helps to establish patterns in my behavior.

I am SO with you on this! I'd be totally immobile without writing my lists but still seem to get it done without having them with me. It's always comforting to know there are others out there like me! Great post!

Me too, I am forever with the lists.

I'm a list maker. But I think it completely goes with being a forgetter. That's why I make the list, lest I forget. But of course, forgetting the list does take forgetting to a new level. LOL.
